Great news, your AI Consulting persona is…
The Producer
You know your way around a company and an office, so we’ll help you rapidly improve your tech and AI skills while also introducing you to advanced business concepts to run a lean, thriving consulting business of your own.
As a producer, you have substantial workplace and office experience, but it’s likely not in a field that is highly reliant on technology or software. You may have participated in or managed projects with an “internal customer” or external client at work, but you haven’t yet expanded your business skills to the point where you have run a company or held a corporate leadership role.
In other words, you’re no stranger to the office or the world of “knowledge work,” and you also know you want to rapidly skill up on AI and tech while also honing your business skills so you can run a thriving consultancy.
Your first step is going to be defeating Imposter Syndrome — – that’s the feeling that you’re “not quite good enough” or “in over your head” — which almost always crops up when you have the self-awareness to realize that your tech skills have a long way to go. (Not to worry, though — many consultants are already succeeding with skillsets just like yours, and we’ll help you quickly build your online reputation.)
One of your biggest goals will be rapidly skilling up with the most common AI tools, so we’ll start you with a crash course on all things AI. Don’t worry – it’s surprisingly easy to get up to speed, even without a lot of pre-existing tech knowledge. Even though the machine-learning elements of AI are super complex, the day to day use cases aren’t – so as long as you put the time and energy into learning, you’ll find that diving into AI is easy and fun.
Then, we’ll introduce you to quick ways to Score Your First Gig and build a list of new prospects so you can Make Your First 3 Sales from your brand-new AI consulting client-service menu.

Where to Start:
[ Note: When you enroll, you’ll get access to all the lessons we mention below. For now, we’ve removed the links from this section to avoid confusion for folks who haven’t yet enrolled. ]
We’re going to help you obliterate Imposter Syndrome. Start with our lesson on on Real-World AI Consulting Businesses (that you can build right now) — and keep in mind you already have equal or better workplace experience than everyone we profile in that video. Then, take a peek at our lesson on Building Your Consulting Reputation, which is also designed to help you hone your credentials and give you permission to say lots of nice things about yourself, which you often hesitate to do ?.
From there, you can take a detour from Imposter Syndrome and level up your AI skills a bit more. Dive into our lessons on Mastering the AI Economy and Tools and our AI Crash Course to help you skill up on AI. A great goal would be to Build Your First AI Workflow, even following This Step-By-Step Tutorial if you’d like!
Then work through the lessons in the “Launch in 7 Days” project until you get to Score Your First Gig.
If you struggle with your Exclusivity Statement, that’s OK. Start with something very general (just use location rather than industry and qualifier, for example) and try to make the early, low-cost sales to prove you can do it, as described in Score Your First Gig. We even have detailed example videos, slides and a proposal template for what your “First Gig” – usually an AI 101 training – will look like.
Once you’ve done that, you’re off to the races. We recommend creating a first draft of your AI Consulting Service Menu, with the understanding that it will evolve as you gain more experience.
Now, it’s time to start reaching out to people outside your “warm” network. Follow the Meet 100 Solid Leads project to learn how to create your online presence, build a prospect list and reach out to them with gentle, powerful, human “cold outreach” that gets their attention and gets them excited to hop on Zoom with you to talk about how you can help them enhance their businesses with AI.
What to Focus On:
- Leveling up your tech skills. While you can likely start delivering trainings to clients within a few weeks, you’ll want to work through our AI crash course and make sure you’ve got the basics down.
- Beating Imposter Syndrome. Our goal will be to help you dive in very soon after you start practicing your tech skills — and avoid waiting for everything to be perfect before you put yourself in front of potential clients.
- You can likely score some early gigs from your personal or professional network, so taking action there will have a big payoff for you in terms of both cash and confidence.
Common Challenges:
- It can be difficult to know when you are “ready” from a tech and AI skill standpoint. Err on the side of starting sooner – remember the story of the piano teacher who just had to say three lessons ahead of her students ? AI is incredibly new, so it’s OK to be learning as you go!
- You may find yourself wondering if you’re “good enough” yet – remember that almost all of humanity is behind the curve in AI compared to you! We’ll help you defeat Imposter Syndrome and gain the confidence to get the ball rolling.
How to Win Big:
- Pick one or two services (most likely from our Training list) for your initial service menu, then get out there and start talking to real people
- Start fast and recognize that everyone is learning as they go – and that you have a huge advantage by being an early-adopter and AI enthusiast. The business and tech skills are all learnable – but it requires you to take action and talk to real people and real clients soon as opposed to waiting until you have “skilled up” on everything.
